What is Playgroup?
Playgroup is an informal session where mums, dads, grandparents, caregivers, children and babies meet together in a relaxed environment. No child is too young for playgroup. Children from 0-5 years all love new experiences and benefit from developing social, sensory and communication skills through the activities at playgroup. Your children will: have fun, play with and among other children, participate in new play experiences, respond to other adults, make local friends, learn simple rules and routines, learn more about their world, increase their social and communication skills, develop their fine and gross motor skills.

How ‘you’ benefit:
Share experiences, develop new friendships, create a support network with other playgroup members, become part of your local community, participate in health and fitness activities, watch your children grow and develop.

Some other added extras for you:
Playgroup gets messy – not your home, children are stimulated, children are fed morning tea and sometimes even lunch, Tick, tick, tick!

Our Facilities:
We are very proud of our facilities and are excited to share them with you and your children. We have a wide range of toys, bikes, play equipment, dress ups, puzzles, musical instruments, books and indoor and outdoor play areas. We have ample undercover play areas for rainy days and lovely big shaded grassed area for sunny days.
Our fully functioning kitchen is child safe and we have a dedicated area for children to join around the table and share morning tea and lunch. Please bring with you one piece of fruit for each session. Quiet feeding areas, changing facilities, nappy area, baby play area and small toilet for children are just some of our catered extras. We have extensive art & craft supplies and areas where children can paint and create to their hearts content.

How we operate:
Boddington Playgroup is run by its Members. Members take turns to open, close, tidy, prepare morning tea and organise activities such as: painting, crafts, music, water play or cooking. Parents are responsible for supervising their own children. The activities and free play opportunities are dedicated towards developing children’s communication, social and gross and fine motor skills in a safe and playful environment. We are proudly part of the Boddington Early Years Network, who consists of Playgroup, Family Support Group, Better Beginnings, Boddington Early Learning Centre, Shire of Boddington, Wheatbelt Primary Health, Child and Youth Health, Boddington District High School, Newmont Boddington Gold, South32.

General Sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays are open all children age 0-5 years and run from 9:30am to 1pm. We have a well-stocked craft room for getting little fingers and minds creating. Members are always welcome to initiate a craft session. At 10:30, we have “fruit time”. Platters of chopped fruit are shared amongst the kids in our outdoor eating area. We ask parents/carers to bring one piece of fruit per child. There is then plenty of time for free play!

Baby Sessions are a terrific introduction to Playgroup. These sessions are for children 0-12 months are held on Mondays from 11-1pm to better suit the sleeping habits a small babies (Though older siblings are welcome). Sessions are generally smaller and calmer with less big kids running around. A great place to form a mother’s group. We often also invite our local Child Health Nurse to give presentations on a variety of topics important to new mothers.
