Working towards preserving the local reserves for future generations.

Friends of the Reserves - Boddington Inc. (FOR) members meet every second Saturday. Our members come from diverse backgrounds & ages, all with one aim - conservation. Incorporated in 1998 we currently have a membership of 20. We have assisted in the establishment of the Boddington Rivers Action Group & through that group & the Water & Rivers Commission established a fish ladder at the Hotham River Weir. This was only the third such structure built in WA. (The results are already being noticed).

Progressive eradication of Watsonia infestations on 3 different shire reserves. Revegetated large degraded sections of Crossman Reserve (West) by direct seeding and with seedlings raised from seeds previously collected here (under license), weed control management, flora identification and working to a management plan devised by Friends of the Reserves & approved by the Shire of Boddington. Parts of this reserve had previously been used as a Main Roads camp site and dumping ground by the Shire.

Seasonal water testing of the local rivers for Water & Rivers Commission / Ribbons of Blue and the community at large. These results are incorporated in the WRC data base. This service is also made available to local community members for testing their dam or other water source.

Annual water testing for Ribbons of Blue Saltwatch snapshot and some of our members have also participated in the annual Hotham/Williams/Murray Catchment salinity project.

Helped plant seedlings and reeds with Boddington District High School students along the Boddington weir foreshore. Planted seedlings on specific roadside reserves for the Shire. Twice yearly taken on the task of keeping the 12 kilometre section of Crossman Road rubbish free.

Members attended a training session by CALM's Roadside Conservation Committee to rate conservation values of our Shire roads. We have undertaken to survey and record flora species in all major Boddington Shire reserves. Participated in the monitoring of Wandoo crown decline in Crossman Reserve (West) for the Wandoo Recovery Group.
